Project

Project
Over the next two weeks the children will the working on an individual project based on the theme- Ireland. They will present it on the 13th,14th,15th and 16th of March in school. (Seachtain na Gaeilge) We have discussed it in class and come up with suggestions of topics linked to the theme. These include;
·         Rivers/Mountain of Ireland
·         A county in Ireland
·         A famous Irish building
·         A famous Irish person
·         Irish food
·         Irish sport
·         Irish Music
·         An Irish Legend e.g. Fionn and the Fianna
·         An Irish President
The most important thing is that they pick something that interests them.
Presentation
Each child will decide to present their project in a different way. Some suggestions in class were;
·         Powerpoint
·         SESE hardback.
·         Display folder
·         Poster Paper
·         Model of a building e.g. Malahide Castle

The main thing to remember is;
·         The children understand the content.
·         It is in their own words. (not copied and pasted from a search engine)
·         It is presented neatly if handwritten.

Here are some links to help explore your ideas.

Flexible friends in 3rd class.

This week is friendship week. The children are working in friendship groups each day and are doing really well at turn taking and playing with children from other classes.
Today we also visited 'Friends Fun Park' where we worked on our pair work and friendship skills. Thanks to Fiona for facilitating it.

Oral Language
Please find questions based on each chapter attached. They need to be answered each week orally after each chapter is read. I would suggest that you focus on reading the chapter on a Monday and then discuss the corresponding comprehension questions on a Tuesday. Likewise focus on reading the chapter on a Wednesday and then answering the comprehension questions on a Thursday. As I say to the class comprehension questions aren’t a memory test- The child can scan back through the chapter if required to help them find an answer. We will review these questions in school also.
